I was scammed by them. Here is my story. I have posted this on myspace. "I was scammed. I am so embarassed and so mad at myself for falling for this, but I am going to share this with you so hopefully none of you will have this happen to you. Last summer I took out an emergency loan. The reason that I needed it was so important that I really didn't care what the interest rate was. Well this year I decided to look for a lower interest loan and I would pay off last years loan with it. Unfortunately I made a few financial mistakes in the past and until they drop off my credit report it is not as easy for me to get a loan. So, i was turned down, turned down....well, you get the picture! Then I get an e-mail from Sterling Finche Financial Services in New York stating that I have been approved and he asked me to call. So I called him, and he told me that I had been approved for a loan at 5% interest rate. He then stated that because of my past credit they would need collateral. I had a choice of the following: 1) title of a car 2) cosigner 3) buy an insurance policy which would cover if I could not make the payments. All 3 of those are normal so I really didn't think much about it. I don't have a car, so that wasn't an option. I really don't have anyone here that I would ask to cosign for me (I really don't feel right about asking anyone to do that) , so that really isn't an option either....so I will get the insurance policy. I was then informed that once I made the 1st payment on the insurance policy, the loan money would be put in my account. I then was to have 2 weeks to pay the other payment on the insurance policy. I was sent a contract which stated all of this which I signed and faxed back to him. So, a few days later I made the 1st payment on my insurance policy. I called him to let him know that I had made the payment. He told me that the money would be in my account in a few hours. Well, I guess you can guess what happened.....the money didn't show up in my account. The next day was a Saturday, I left him a message and also e-mailed him but I figured that since it was a Saturday, I would have to wait until Monday. Monday morning first thing I started calling to see what was going on. The guy that was handling my account wasn't there so I asked to talk to a supervisor. I talked to his supervisor and asked why my money was not in my account. He stated that I was to pay the insurance policy in full in order for the funds to be put in my account. I explained to him what I had been told and that all it says in my contract about payment on the insurance policy is "as discussed with your consultant". So, I made the other payment on the insurance policy a couple days later. I then called to let him know that I had made the payment. He then told me that once he processed it, the money would be in my account in a couple hours. Well, I guess you can guess what happened.....the money didn't show up in my account. The next morning I was on the phone calling, calling ......I kept getting put on hold and disconnected. After I called about 20 times, I finally got put through to a manager. He put me on hold as he looked over my account. He came back and said "your money has not been put in your account because you have not paid the taxes". I told him there is nothing in my contract about taxes. I told him that I want my money refunded right away. I asked him when I will be refunded for the insurance policy and he said that it would be 90 days. I told him that is not acceptable. He kept telling me that I am breaking the contract. There is nothing on my contract about any taxes, so I did everything that I signed for on the contract. I then told him that they have put me in a really bad situation. Not only did I not get the loan money, I am out the money for the insurance policy ($1,084). I need it before 90 days! With all that has happened, will I even get it at all?!?!?!?!!!! Here are the name of these scammers: Sterling Finche Financial 42 Hanover Square, 11th FLoor New York, Muscle Shoals 10005 Representative: Thomas Steiner 877-723-7472 His supervisor: Robert Guanda His Manager: Gordon I have reported them to the Better Business Bureau, and also to the FTC (Fraud Center). I was trying to save me some money by getting a lower interest rate loan, but what I have gotten is a headache and more debt!! There are just so many people out there that are so dishonest. It is just so sad that there are people out there that do this on purpose. Be careful!!!"
