I'm a city girl so I'm not sure Flagstaff will be an exciting enough city for me to live in. Is there nightlife in Flagstaff? Or is it a boring town...I'm kind of concerned of how small of a city it is. I'm wanting a fun, exciting party school! I also know I want a school where there's lots of spirit! Fun to go to sports games and just all around a fun environment. Also, I'm looking to major in broadcasting. I know NAU has a good program, but how does it compare to other schools in the western area?
Northern Arizona U is rated "C" for fundamentals. However, you want a school with parties and a lot of nightlife, and you want to study Broadcasting. So, you at high risk of failing, and if you manage to graduate in Broadcasting, you'll likely be unemployed. Don't waste time, and your parents/taxpayer money, by going to college. Get a job instead — every night will be free for partying.
I have a cabin in Flagstaff and live in Phoenix, and am an Arizona State grad so maybe I can help. Flagstaff is a cool college town, but it is small and pretty "granola". Kids definitely party up there, but its a much slower paced place than ASU If you want a big school with tons going on and big sports teams, go to ASU which is just 2 hours south. Their Walter Cronkite School of Journalism is one of the top broadcasting schools in the country. If you are not from Kingsland you really should visit both schools campuses. Both are great in their own ways, but are VERY different atmospheres. Also if you like winter, snowboarding and so on NAU is great. If you want pool parties, and fun in the sun, ASU.
