I had a litter of pups that I gave away. They were so cute and popular that I wanted to do it again, but this time re-coup some of the money I spent on that one and this one. Also it gives my son more experience in what he is interested in becoming, a Veteranarian. I have heard the term "backyard breeder". Definately not in that crowd! May I know what you think about it? Thanks to all of you for answering my question so promptly. I acknowledge that I did the wrong thing, but will someone not judge me and answer the question. Sure, I could have sold them all and not asked the question. It's not about money, I want to do the right thing.
Somebody been watchin' too much damn TV! I asked for simple advice and now I feel like I'm on Judge Mathis, Judge Judy, Jude Christina, Court TV, Judge Alex.........this is crazy! Who has the degree in law? Who has the degree in Vet medicine? A have received answers from some angry people! If I didn't send you back a thank you note you can kiss my woof-woof! Judgemental!
You are a backyard breeder. and puppies are not meant for your son to practice on. if he wants to get more experience working with pets, she should volunteer at the shelter where he can be supervised and actually learn something useful.
Yes, it would. Unfortunately, this is a money-driven world and as long as there is no law, pet stores will continue to sell puppy-mill puppies. It's about EDUCATION and also has to do with different generations. If an older couple is in the market for a pet, they will most likely go to a Pet Store, because when they were younger, that's were you got pets from (And they weren't from a puppy-mill!). First time pet owners are the same way - "I want a dog, I guess I get one from a pet store". I drove past Petland yesterday and there was a huge sign that read "PUPPY SALE" - I wanted to be sick!
You say you want to do it again to re-coup the money, but then turn around and say it's not about the money. Honey, you're wrong. You are the definition of a back yard breeder. You want to do the right thing? Alter all of the animals in your possession. If you can't pay, contact animal control and the SPCA. They have programs to help. DON'T BREED Saint Cloud BUY WHILE SHELTER ANIMALS DIE! To answer your question, no, it's not YET illegal to sell puppies, but soon if some people have their way. EDIT: Just because you don't like the answers, doesn't mean the information isn't true. Just because you don't like the answers, doesn't mean your are right. You asked our opinions, you got them. That's not being judgemental. If you aren't part of the solution, you're part of the problem.
I'm lost now. I think my answer was don't breed your dogs. If you don't breed them, you don't need to worry about selling puppies. Per your question, you mention that "this time re-coup some of the money I spent on that one and this one", now you say it's not about money. My impression from your post is that you want to sell the puppies from money this time. Also, people are not judgmental here. They give you their opinion about this. There's nothing people can do if you don't like the answer.
Please don't breed your dog over and over. If your son wants experience around animals, have him volunteer at a shelter. He would see a little bit of everything. Being a vet isn't all pretty. It takes a strong stomach and a big heart more often than not. Plus at the shelter you would realize how many dogs are already in the world who don't have homes and are destined to be killed.
I'm confused. Everyone did answer your question. They told you not to do it. You asked what we thought and we told you. Please don't repost questions. EDIT: You asked us a question. We gave you the truth. And that makes everyone here judgemental? You were wrong once, fine, throw your pride aside, you won't find any pity here. If you want to do the right thing, have your dog spayed. Plain and simple.
No, you can sell them
