Payday Loan in Montana

My current car is a 2001 Honda civic but the transmission is messed up. It will cost me around $1,500 to fix which would end up being a major waste of money since the car will more than likely break down again soon. I am about to go to college and will need to have a reliable form of transportation since the area I live in is basically a random suburb which has no means of public transport. I looked at cars on craiglists but so far every one I have talked to (around 15 as of now) has ended up being a fraud in some sort. Thus, I'd like to take out an auto loan to get a more recent car (2006 would be good). However, I am about to turn 18 and I don't know the chances of me being able to talk a loan out. And Also, I want to know if there are auto loans specifically for young drivers. EXTRA DETAILS First off, I have been working since I was 13 and while I do have money saved it is for my college, future rent etc. Secondly, no my parents can not help. Obviously, if I have been working since such a young age then my parents aren't exactly in the best financial shape. Third, don't give me any "welcome to the real world" BS. I financially support myself and have done so for a long time. I have been part of the real world for a long time even if I'm just being legally recognized as an adult. Thank you for any future answers I appreciate it a lot. This car issue is starting to affect my school and has created way more stress than I can handle.

Have you tried going to a Honda dealer and looking at certified pre-owned vehicles? Before you say you can't afford that, think about it this way 1. You'll have reliable transportation and dealer back-up if something goes wrong. 2. The loan amount you will pay will likely be less, because you are a Honda owner. It's weird, but many times when you take your vehicle to a manufacturer dealer you get more for your trade-in and better loan options. You can show you have a work history, responsible enough to pay your own insurance, no dings on your driving record and I don't see that you're nearly 18 comes into it. You're further ahead than most people twice your age.

I would suggest that you take the money you have saved for future expenses and put it towards the car, then save your "car payment" to pay for your future expenses. If you do get a car loan, it is likely to be at a high interest rate, which isn't great. You might re-consider fixing the old car. Even if you put a new transmission into it, and spend another $1500 on repairs for the rest of this year, it is still less than a car payment. Hondas are very reliable and Civics usually get good gas mileage. Plus, your car insurance will go up with a newer car. Hopefully, you have pursued every available form of financial aid to pay for college and won't have too many out-of-pocket expenses. Good luck. I know how hard it can be to get started.

Given what you said, you may need to delay college a year or two, because you will not be getting a car loan considering most of your money will be dedicated to going to college. Montana ; what future rent? Would it pay to live on campus? ... but go establish a relationship with a credit union, if they will help you out. {They consider the customer's needs more closely than a big bank. Sometimes they also have good cars they have repo'ed.} If you can really afford the payments, your parents would be able to help by cosigning to get you the loan, and at a lower rate. Spend your money on the needed car and take out student loans for college. EDIT: G N A has an excellent idea

Omg leyla i was in your shoes NO BS with a 2000 protege. Tranny broke and i shelled out the money to fix it ONLY TO HAVE it totaled less than 6 months later by someone not yielding to oncoming traffic while turning left. Can i name drop on yahoo answers? cause CAPITAL ONE gave me a $16000 loan at 10% interest and no trade in or down payment. I worked for (still do) another big name bank that wouldnt finance me. not a huge shock since i dont have an 800 FICO- but i had stable job history and paid my credit cards on time. Capital One. If that doesnt work get a student loan. The deferred payments and lower interest rates than auto loans might be a better fit for for someone young with limited credit history. i wish you the best of luck!
